South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Abu Dhabi’s Executive Affairs Authority Chairman Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak convened on Friday to reinforce the ongoing collaboration between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting took place at Cheong Wa Dae, where both leaders emphasized the importance of their strategic partnership.
President Lee underscored the significance of the agreement forged during his visit to the UAE in November, which aims at cultivating a long-term alliance between the two nations. He expressed gratitude for the UAE’s prioritization of crude oil supplies to South Korea earlier this year in March. Additionally, Lee highlighted the expanding cooperation in sectors such as defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and cultural exchanges.
Calling for enhanced communication, President Lee advocated for more tangible projects stemming from the cooperative efforts, emphasizing the need for strengthened coordination based on mutual trust. This push for closer ties reflects South Korea’s strategy to diversify its international partnerships beyond traditional boundaries.
Chairman Al Mubarak, conveying greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, described South Korea as a vital partner. He noted that the collaboration between the two countries has broadened beyond energy and infrastructure to include investment, space exploration, healthcare, and education sectors, signaling a comprehensive approach to bilateral relations.
The discussions between Lee and Al Mubarak come amid anticipation of further high-level engagements, with the potential for a summit in South Korea next month. The continued dialogue underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen their partnership across various strategic domains.
