by admin477351

Italy has issued a strong condemnation of Russia following a drone attack that reportedly hit a residential building in Romania, near the border with Ukraine. The incident injured two civilians and heightened concerns over regional security. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni characterized the attack as an extremely serious act, highlighting its occurrence on Romanian soil, a nation that is both a European Union and NATO member.

Expressing solidarity with Romania, Meloni emphasized that the strike underscored the ongoing threat to civilian safety and the broader risks to European security from the conflict. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani urged Russia to engage in earnest discussions aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace, reaffirming Italy’s support for Romania in light of the incident.

The attack took place in the Romanian city of Galați, close to Ukraine’s border. Romanian authorities confirmed that the drone strike resulted in injuries to two people when it hit a residential area. This development has intensified fears among European leaders regarding the conflict’s potential to extend beyond Ukraine, impacting neighboring countries.

Italy’s Defence Minister Guido Crosetto described the drone strike as a dangerous and irresponsible escalation, stressing that the security of any NATO and EU member is of collective concern to all allies. The event has prompted NATO members to reiterate their commitment to collective defense and maintaining regional stability amid ongoing tensions.
