South Korea has achieved its highest position in over three years in the FIFA women’s world rankings, climbing to 17th place. This advancement comes on the heels of the national team’s successful performance at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, where they secured a bronze medal.

The team improved its ranking by two spots, marking a return to 17th for the first time since June 2023. Within Asia, South Korea is now ranked fourth, trailing Japan in fifth, North Korea in 12th, and Australia in 15th. Meanwhile, China has fallen to 18th place.

South Korea’s bronze-medal accomplishment was solidified after a 2-0 defeat to host nation Japan in the semifinals, followed by a 1-0 victory over China in the third-place match. This achievement represents the team’s first Asian Games bronze in eight years and their first win over China in 11 years.

Globally, Spain continues to hold the top spot in the rankings, with the United States, Germany, England, and Japan rounding out the top five. The final FIFA women’s world rankings for the year are expected to be published on December 7.
