South Korea has introduced the Digital Nomad Visa (F-1-D), simplifying the process for foreign remote workers to live in the country while maintaining employment with overseas companies. This move transitions from a pilot program and brings more lenient eligibility criteria to attract international professionals.
The updated visa guidelines notably reduce the income requirements for certain applicants, focusing on younger individuals and those who intend to reside outside the bustling Greater Seoul area or in regions experiencing population decline. Furthermore, the visa now permits a longer stay, extending the maximum duration from two years to three years.
By launching this initiative, the South Korean government aims to draw in global talent, encouraging them to settle long-term and enhancing the nation’s appeal as a hub for highly skilled remote workers.
