Russian President Vladimir Putin has pointed to the high turnout in the recent parliamentary elections as evidence of public backing for the government’s ongoing military actions and national security policies, particularly its efforts in Ukraine. The election, which took place from September 18 to 20, saw a voter turnout of 59.3%, which Putin cited as a sign of confidence in the ruling administration’s agenda.
The results showed the United Russia party, which supports Putin, securing a significant victory with more than 57% of the vote.
