Saudi Arabia and South Korea have pledged to deepen their collaboration in the realms of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and technology investment, following a series of high-level discussions in Seoul. The talks involved Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Al-Swaha, alongside Haytham Al-Ohali, Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, who engaged with senior officials from the South Korean government.
The discussions centered on fostering innovation and enhancing the digital economy, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s aspirations to position itself as a leading global hub for artificial intelligence. Key areas of focus included collaboration on AI, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure. Additionally, the talks aimed at bolstering digital government services through cooperation on unified government platforms, digital identity systems, and the application of AI to improve public services. This included exploring partnerships between Saudi Arabia’s Digital Government Authority and South Korea’s Ministry of the Interior.
Adding to the agenda, Al-Swaha met with the founder and CEO of APL Ventures to explore investment opportunities and support for Saudi startups. Discussions were held on ways to expand these startups’ presence in international markets while also encouraging technology investment within Saudi Arabia.
This visit is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to solidify global technology partnerships, draw high-value investments, and expedite the growth of an AI-driven digital economy. The Kingdom aims to leverage its relationships with nations like South Korea to advance its technological prowess and economic development.
